July 4th in Arlington: A Celebration to Remember
By Mackenzie Moff
The annual Fourth of July event in Arlington is a total blast! From community events at Haller Park to vibrant parades and carnivals downtown, the day is set for amazing Independence Day celebrations.
The morning kicks off at Haller Park with a much-loved pancake breakfast, a lively auction, and the exhilarating 5K color run. A race volunteer, said, “I went to the pancake breakfast… I had a lot of fun hanging out with friends.”
Lively music infused energy into the color run as participants set off. Volunteers enthusiastically tossed chalk at runners, making for a colorful finish.
The festivities then move to Legion Park downtown, with classic carnival fun like balloon animals, face painting, bouncy houses, and games.
The afternoon features the cherished Kiddies and Grand Parades, which are community favorites. Kyleigh King noted, “It was so fun to see everyone in the town so excited when they saw all of the festivities!”
In the evening, the annual Duck Dash takes center stage. This event, started in 1987, originally raised funds for the Arlington Boys and Girls Club, a beloved space for many of us. It concluded with a spectacular fireworks display for everyone gathered at the Boys and Girls Club.
I recommend Arlington’s Fourth of July festivities to everyone for the years to come. It’s a perfect celebration filled with nostalgia and joy for all ages. Happy Fourth of July!
