I remember walking ditches in Southern Idaho with my grandparents, looking for milkweed, the favorite food of the monarch caterpillar. If we were fortunate enough to find one, we’d put it in a jar, watching the caterpillar wrap itself in a chrysalis, then waiting, and waiting, and waiting for that magical moment when a butterfly emerges. Butterflies represent the freedom that awaits on the other side of an often difficult transformation process.
